HABIGANJ: A least 14 leaders and activists of BNP, including former mayor of the municipality and also its district unit general secretary GK Gaus and his brother, have been sent to jail.

District and Session Judge and special tribunal-1 judge Amjad Hossain on Monday (Feb 18) passed the order when they appeared before the court with bail petition.

The BNP leaders-activists sought the bail in four cases filed against them on charge of violence on the voting day of the parliamentary election and day before.

Awami League leaders-activists and police filed the cases accusing 700 leaders and activists of BNP for their alleged connection in subversive acts at Garur Bazar Government Primary School in Sadar upazila, J K and H K High School and Staff Quarter Government Primary School in the district town.
