DHAKA: Writ petitions were filed with the High Court on behalf of Khaleda Zia challenging cancellation of her nominations by the Election Commission (EC) to contest in the 11th parliamentary elections. 

Three separate writs had been filed with the concerned section of the HC on Sunday (Dec 9), Barrister Nawshad Zamir told banglanews.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s nomination forms for Feni-1 and Bogra-6 and 7 seats were cancelled during the scrutiny by the Returning officers on Dec 2. 

On Saturday (Dec 8), Election Commission (EC) has rejected appeals of the convicted BNP chief that sought back her candidacy from the three constituencies.
