DHAKA: Relatives of convicted BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia met her at Old Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road of old parts of the capital city on Eid day Wednesday (August 22).

Six members of Khaleda Zia entered inside at 3:40pm, after being given permission by the prison authorities.

The meeting lasted for almost two and half hours.

The prison authorities were given a list of twenty persons but only six were allowed to enter inside. 

The members include—Khaleda Zia’s son Late Arafat Rahman Koko’s wife Sharmila Rahman and daughter Jafia Rahman, Khaleda Zia’s sister Selima Islam with husband and Tarique Rahman’s wife Dr Zobaida Rahman’s elder sister Shahina Khan Zaman Bindu.

Sources said Khaleda Zia exchanged Eid greetings with the relatives.

Earlier in the day, a team of BNP senior leaders were denied by the prison authorities to meet their party chief at jail.

However, a Dhaka court sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years of rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8.
