Govt makes parliament ineffective keeping Opposition out: Fakhrul

Thakurgaon: BNP senior joint secretary-general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged the government is making parliament ineffective by shutting out the opposition.

“The country is passing through a critical juncture as there is no practice of democracy as well as basic rights,” said the party leader at the installation ceremony of the newly elected district committee of BNP.

Fakhrul also said the government is trying to “politicize” the judiciary and to regulate the press. “Journalists are being repressed for their writings,” he added.

District BNP general secretary Taimur Rahman, joint secretary Obaidullah Masud and Organising secretary Poygam Ali also spoke at the meeting.
