Bomb blast injures BNP leader in Meherpur

MEHERPUR: A local opposition BNP leader was injured critically in a bomb attack in Gangni upazila of the district on Wednesday night, police said.

The injured, Abdul Alim, 45, is vice-president of Bamandi union BNP and member of Gangni upazila unit of the party.

“Unidentified miscreants hurled three bombs at Alim at Bamandi bazaar at 11pm on his way home,” said officer–in-charge of Gangni police station Matiar Rahman.

He was rescued by locals and taken to Gangni Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical Collage Hospital.

Police recovered four bombs from the spot.
