BNP’s 3 female MPs freed after held

DHAKA: Three female lawmakers of opposition BNP from were freed hours after they were detained in city’s Nayapaltan area on Wednesday, the last day of 84-hour nonstop hartal called by 18-party alliance.

The detainees are Shammi Akter, Rasheda Begum Hira and Nilufer Chowdhury Moni.

They were freed around 2:45pm, said a source from the party.

Earlier in the day, police cordoned the lawmakers when they went to near the party central office around 1:45pm.

The both groups locked into a scuffle.  After a 20-minute scuffle, police picked them up in a white colored microbus.

Sources said they were taken to Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch of police.
