DHAKA: Bikalpadhara Bangladesh president AQM Badrudduzza Chowdhury and Secretary General Major (Rtd) Abdul Mannan urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for immediate release of detained BNP leaders.

In a joint statement they said it is not good sign to announce elections in one side and the arrest of opposition leaders on the other hand.

They made the reaction on Saturday when CMM court sent BNP standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed, MK Anwar, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia, BNP chairperson’s advisor Abdul Awoal Pintu and personal assistant Shimul Biswas to prison in two separate cases in the afternoon.

The two leaders criticized government stance on election issue.
