Two ‘muggers’ killed in Dhaka ‘gunfight’

DHAKA: Two alleged muggers were killed in a reported gunfight with Detective Branch (DB) of police in Kuratoly area of Khilkhet in the capital early Monday (July 6).

The deceased were identified as Nannu and Mosharoff. Details of them could not be known immediately.

Khilkhet police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Borhan Uddin confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Police around 1:00am conducted a drive based on information that some muggers were preparing to attack, snatch or carry out a robbing incident, he said.

Becoming aware of police presence, one of muggers opened fire forcing the law enforcers to fire back, he said.

Police rescued the duo with bullet wounds and rushed them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s (DMCH) emergency department, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead, the OC added.

The bodies are kept at the DMCH morgue, he said.
