NAOGAON: A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Indian territory along Nitpur border area under Porsha upazila of Naogaon on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Subhas Roy, 37, son of Bhulu Roy, hailing from Turipara village of the upazila.

Lt Col Ariful Islam, commanding officer of BGB-16, confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

He said a group of cattle traders had gone to India to bring cattle.

 “The BSF men from India’s Agrabad camp opened fire on them while they were returning to Bangladesh with cattle, leaving Shubhas dead on the spot” he said.

A letter was sent convening a flag meeting to bring him back, Ariful Islam added.
