DHAKA: Bashundhara Group Managing Director (MD) Sayem Sobhan Anvir hailed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for announcing historic stimulus package to address economic debacle caused by coronavirus.

Terming the package by Sheikh Hasina the best ever announced by any head of state in the globe to tackle corona impact, he said Bangladesh will be able to retain the pace of socioeconomic development under her apt leadership.

Bashundhara Group MD also said: “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has once again proved to be ‘mother of humanity.’ People from all strata of society have come under the economic coverage. Awami League government’s SDG slogan to leave no one behind has been reflected in the package.”

Besides, the pragmatic and lucrative incentives announced for the business sectors at the bleak situation are highly appreciable, he said.

The global leaders, who are showing hostility to their citizens in the current standoff, should take lessons from Sheikh Hasina, Sayem Sobhan Anvir added.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday (April 5) morning unveiled the government work plan to overcome the possible COVID-19 impact on the country’s economy, declaring an allocation of Tk 727.5 billion (Tk 72,750 crore) under a set of stimulus packages.

“I hope our economy will rebound and we could reach near the desired economic growth, if the stimulus packages, the previous and the fresh ones, could be quickly implemented,” the premier said.
