Bashundhara Group provides masks, PPE, food for navy

DHAKA: Bashundhara Group has provided Bangladesh Navy with 50,000 masks, 500 PPE (Personal protective equipment) and 700 packets food items to tackle the coronavirus situation.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director (MD) Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Vice Chairman Safwan Sobhan Tasvir handed over the safety kits to Chief of Naval staff Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury on Sunday (April 4) morning.

The country’s largest business conglomerate also provided with 700 packets of food items in the event at Bangladesh Navy Headquarters around 11am. 

Earlier on Saturday, Bashundhara Group provided Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) with 25,000 masks for traffic police.

On Wednesday, Bashundhara Group (BG) gave 1,000 PPE and 50,000 masks to Directorate General of Medical Service (DGMS).

As part of corporate social responsibility, Bashundhara Group is going to establish a 5,000-bed hospital for treatment of corona patients.

The group has also donated Tk 100 million (10 crore) to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

Necessary work to establish the hospital is underway as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina accepted the proposal of Bashundhara Group.

The 12th Engineer Battalion of Bangladesh Army and officials of the health ministry have already visited the site of the hospital and expressed satisfaction with the facilities.
