Bashundhara Group gives food aid to 1,700 more poor families

DHAKA: Bashundhara Group, country’s largest business conglomerate, distributed food assistance among 1,700 more hand-to-mouth families in the city to help them overcome financial hardships caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. 

Bashundhara Group distributed the food assistance from the capital’s International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on Tuesday (March 31) noon.

Each of the beneficiary households received 10 kilograms of Miniket rice, 2 kilograms of pulse, 1 liter Soybean oil, 2 Kilograms of onion, 2 Kilograms of potato, 500 grams of garlic, and 500 grams of ginger at a time.
Senior executive director of Bashundhara Group Liakat Hossain, senior executive director (Account and Finance) Imrul Hassan, executive director (Estate) Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin and executive director (Land) Nazmul Alam Bhuiyan handed over the food items to councillors (17, 18, 39 and 48 no. wards) of the Dhaka (North) city corporation.
Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin said, “In any crisis of the nation, the Bashundhara Group stands by the people. The group has now come again to help the poor as usual during the coronavirus crisis. Today, we handed over the relief goods to 1700 poor families through public representatives in the second phase.”

He also said Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan is always working for the welfare of the country. He stands beside helpless people always during the national crisis. Bashundhara Group will also work in the future for the welfare of the country and the people.

Earlier on March 29, the Bashundhara Group distributed food assistance among 2000 poor families in the first phase.
