DHAKA: A total of 269 US citizens left Dhaka for home on Monday (March 30) evening.
 
A special flight of Qatar Airways carrying them along with their seven dogs took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:05pm, said airport Security Director Group Capt AHM Towhid-Ul Ahsan.

Earlier in the day, US Ambassador to Bangladesh visited the airport to monitor the overall situation.

In Bangladesh, 49 people have so far been infected with the coronavirus while five people died and 19 people recovered. 

Meanwhile, the USA confirmed 142,793 coronavirus cases while 2,490 died and 4,562 recovered on Monday, according worldometers.
