Bashundhara Group donates Tk 10 crore to PM’s relief fund

DHAKA: Bashundhara Group has extended its support to the government for ongoing battle against the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

The country’s leading business conglomerate donated Taka 10 crore to the Prime Minister’s relief fund to combat the spreading of Covid-19.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director (MD) Sayem Sobhan Anvir handed over the donation cheque to Ahmad Kaikaus, principal secretary to the PM on Sunday afternoon. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received donation for her relief and welfare fund from various government and private organisations through a videoconference from her official Ganabhaban residence.

Besides, Bashundhara Group will build a 5000-bed hospital in the capital for treating patients infected with coronavirus (COVID-19).

Sayem Sobhan Anvir placed the proposal to the Prime Minister. 

The premier has given her consent in this regard, Bashundhara Group MD said.

According to the proposal, four convention centers and one trade center of the group located in Kuril of the capital would be turned into a 5000-bed hospital.
