Six killed as car hits tree in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Six persons were killed and three others injured when a private car hit a tree at Kadirpur area in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Moshabeb Ali, 40, of Debishingpara area of Rajshahi city, his wife Hosne Ara, 35, Ashia Begum, 30, daughter of Ali Murtaza of Char Chakla Debinagar area of Chapainawabganj, a four-month-old baby Adib Al Hasan, Akkas Ali, 40, of Munnafer area of metropolitan area, and Mahbubur Rahman, 35, son of Matiur Rahman,  of Meherchandi area.

Khairul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Godagari police station confirmed the news.

The accident occurred around 12 noon when the car hit a tree as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving four persons dead on the sport and five others injured.

The injured were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared two others dead, OC added.
