Robber lynched in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT:  A robber was lynched to death and two others injured in Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district on Monday (February 17).

The deceased could not be identified, but was presumed to be aged 35. However, the other two injured were identified as Mohit Hawlader, 32, son of Abdul Kader Hawlader, of Baroikhali village under Kachua upazila and Mohsin Hawlader, 36.

Zakir Hawlader, a local Union Parishad (UP), told Banglanews: “A band of 5-6 robbers broke into a house. They held all the members of the house hostages and fled away with Taka 50,000 and gold. Upon screaming, villagers caught one and lynched. At dawn, the injured robber was taken to upazila health complex, but was declared dead. Two local youths were also injured while chasing robbers.”

Officer- in-Charge (OC-investigation) of Kachua police station Sardar Iqbal Hossain told Banglanews that the injured robber died after he was taken to the hospital. An attempt is being made to identify him.

Dead body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Legal action will be taken in this regard, OC added.
