Clash incident not expected: British envoy Ishraque Hossain speaks to Robert Chatterton Dickson at former's residence

DHAKA: Saying that clash incident was not expected, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson hoped for fair elections.

British High Commissioner came up with the remark after meeting BNP-nominated mayoral candidate Ishraque Hossain at latter’s residence in city’s Gopibag area on Sunday (January 26).

Robert Chatterton Dickson said: “I am meeting all the mayoral candidates. As part of that, I came to meet BNP-nominated candidate today. This election is very important. Everyone expects it to be peaceful, free and fair. I hope, this will be a fair election. We expect a fair election.”

He also said: “I spoke to the Election Commissioner. I have learned about how they are conducting elections.”

Regarding the clash during Ishraque Hossain’s campaign on Sunday, Robert Chatterton Dickson said: “No clashes should occur during electoral campaign. We do not expect clash. I hope everyone will lead a peaceful election.”
