2 Bangladeshis shot dead by BSF along Lalmonirhat border

LALMONIRHAT: Two Bangladeshis were shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Amjhol Border of Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat on Wednesday morning.

The deceased identified as Suruj Mia, 35, son of Osman Ali and Suruj Ali, 38, son of Shahjan Ali, hailied from the Amjhol area.

Lt Col SM Tauhidul Islam, captain of Battalion-15 in Lalmonirhat, told Banglanews that Suruj Mia was shot by BSF men near Amjhola Border pillar No 907/4 when he went to the border area to bring cattle.

Later, members of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Suruj Mia in the area this morning on information, he said.

Locals claimed that Suruj Ali was also shot dead by the BSF in the area. However, the incident could not be confirmed immediately. 

The BGB protested the killing incident, Tauhidul Islam said.
