Keraniganj fire death toll now 19 as two more die Keraniganj fire victims

DHAKA: Two more victims of the Prime Pet and Plastic Industries Limited factory fire in Keraniganj succumbed to injuries on Sunday (Dec 15) evening taking the death toll to 19.

Suman, 14, breathed his last around 5:30pm at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Dr Samanta Lal Sen, Chief Coordinator of the institute said.

Another victim Ranjit Das died at his Keraniganj residence around 6:15pm.

Earlier in the morning, Abdur Razzam, Muttaqim and Abu Sayeed died this morning at the surgery unit of DMCH.

On Saturday another victim Asad, 14, died at the unit.

On Thursday, twelve workers, who were critically burnt in Wednesday’s factory fire, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The deceased were Imran, Babul, Alam Hossain, Raihan, Zinarul Islam, Khalek, Salauddin, Sujon, Faysal, Jahangir and Mehedy and Abdur Razzak.

A deadly fire, sparked by a gas cylinder explosion at a factory in Hijaltola, killed a worker and injured 35 others. Firefighters at first recovered the charred body of Jakir Hossain, 25, from the factory.
