7 of a family killed in Chattogram gas cylinder blast

CHATTOGRAM: At least seven members of a family were killed and 15 others injured as a gas cylinder exploded at their Patharghata residence in Chattogram city on Sunday (Nov 17) morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet, Banglanews correspondent reports.

Kotwali Police Station OC (Officer-in-charge) Mohammad Mohsin told Banglanews that two walls of the building collapsed when the gas pipeline near a building exploded with a big bang around 9:00am.

Deputy Director Jasim uddin of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence told Banglanews that three teams of the fire service rushed to the spot and were conducting rescue operation.

Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Alauddin Talukder said that the injured were were admitted to the hospital. Of them, seven died. Among the deceased, one was a child and two were women, he added.
