‘Nabanna Utsab’ being celebrated

DHAKA: Nabanna Utsab, the traditional harvest festival, is being celebrated across the country, on the first day of Agrahayan of Bangla calendar that falls on Saturday (Nov 16).

The day is very significant for the country as its farmers started harvesting new crops on the very first day of Bengali month.

The festival of bringing new crops home has been celebrated in this region for centuries and has become an integral part of the tradition and culture.

Jatiya Nabanna Utsab Udjapan Parishad, the celebration committee of the festival, have organised the cultural function where artists performed folk songs, Lalon geeti, Tagore songs and dance to welcome Agrahayan.
