DHAKA: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of prisons Bazlur Rashid for illegally amassing assets worth Tk 3.5 crore.

Director of the ACC Md Yusuf confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Sunday (Oct 20). 

A team of ACC, led by its Director Md Yusuf on Sunday (October 28) arrested the DIG prison. Deputy Directors Nasir Uddin and Salauddin Ahmed are the team members.

Earlier in the day, the ACC started interrogating Bazlur Rashid and his wife, Razzakun Nahar. They were questioned for illegally sending money through courier service. That's where the ACC gets its evidence of amassing illegal wealth.

ACC alleged that Bazlur Rashid hid his address and bought a mobile SIM in the name of his wife to transact money. 

He used to send bribe money through these channels without sending money directly. Of this, the ACC, in its charges brought against him, mentions 24 receipts for courier of around Tk 1 crore.

The ACC also summoned Gazipur district jail officer Nesar Alam for same allegation but he did not appear before the ant-graft body.
