Man held with 130 gold bars at Ctg airport

DHAKA: Officials of Chattogram Customs detained a man with 130 gold bars, weighing over 15 kilograms, from Shah Amanat International Airport on Friday (Oct 18) morning. 

The detainee, Md Zoynal, was a passenger of Air Arabia flight, arriving from Sharjah at 8:10am, said Wing Commander ABM Sarwar-E-Zaman, manager of Ctg Airport, told Banglanews. 

For suspicious November of the Chattogram man during check-out, customs officials searched his luggage and recovered the bars, hiding inside charge light. Filing of a case is underway, he added.

Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Custom House Md Riyadul Islam told Banglanews that the market price of the seized gold is around Tk 6.5 crore.
