2 Rohingyas killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

COX’S BAZAR: Two Rohingya yaba traders were killed in a reported gunfight with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Whykang area of Teknaf upazila early Friday (Oct 17).

The deceased were identified as Abdul Hashim and Nur Kamal, resided in Balukhali Rohingya camp in Ukhyia.  

Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station, told Banglanews that being tipped of that a bid consignment of yaba is being smuggled into Bangladesh territory through Naf River, a patrol team of BGB went to the area.

But as soon as BGB reached, criminals opened fire, triggering a “gunfight”. 

The two yaba taders sustained gunshot wounds while trying to flee the scene.

Later, they were taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where doctors pronounced them dead.

One locally made gun, two machetes and 50,000 yaba pills were recovered from the spot.
