2 ‘drug peddlers’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

COX’S BAZAR: Two suspected drug peddlers were killed in a reported gunfight with Police in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday (October 17).

The gunfight took place at Hoaikong Satghoria Para Pahari area of Teknaf at dawn. 

The deceased were identified as Jiabul Haque Jia Prokash Babul, 30, son of Samshul Alam, of Hoaikong union and Ajim Ullah, 46, son of Kefayet Ullah, of Shilkhali area under Baharchara union.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station Prodip Kumar Das confirmed the news.

Police seized one-shooter gun, 5 locally-made weapons, 36 rounds of fresh bullets and 5,000 yaba pills from the scene. The OC said the deceased were accused in a number of cases.

Dead bodies were kept in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue. Three separate cases will also be filed over the incident, OC also said.
