Fahad murder accused Sadat remanded

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday (Oct 16) placed Nazmus Sadat, an accused of BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case, on a five-day remand for interrogation.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan granted the remand petition filed by as investigation officer and detective branch inspector Md Wahiduzzaman.

Earlier, the IO of the case produced Nazmus Sadat before the court with a 10-day remand petition. 

Earlier on Tuesday (Oct 15), detectives arrested ASM Nazmus Sadat, is a student of batch 17 of Mechanical Engineering department in BUET, for his alleged involvement in the gruesome killing of BUET student Abrar Fahad. 

Sadat was arrested by a team of detective Branch of Police around 3:30am today from Birampur upazial of Dinajpur, Masudur said.

His name was mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR).

With Sadat, the law enforcers have so far arrested a total of 20 people in this connection.

He has been absconding since the murder. To avoid arrest, he was trying to flee to India via Hilli border of Dinajpur district, the DMP DC added.

Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of BUET, was beaten to death inside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of October 7.

Police recovered his body from between the ground floor and the second floor of the Sher-e-Bangla Hall at 3am on the day.

Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah filed a case against 19 people with Chawkbazar Police Station in connection with the Abrar murder.
