Fahad murder: HC writ hearing over Tk 10cr compensation Tuesday

DHAKA: The High Court will hear on Tuesday (Oct 15) the writ petition filed seeking Tk 10cr compensation for its directive to provide Tk 10 crore as compensation to the family members of BUET student Abrar Fahad.

The HC bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal on Monday (Oct 14) set the date for hearing after the writ was placed before it today.

Earlier on Sunday (Oct 13), the writ was filed seeking the HC order to provide compensation for family member of Fahad.

Advocate Shaheen Babu submitted the petition also requesting the HC to order the government to give Tk 10 crore to the victim’s family.

In the petition, the lawyer also appealed to the HC to form Judicial Committee for enquiry of the murder incident and issued directives to the authorities concerned of the government to ensure security of the Fahad family.

Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of BUET was allegedly beaten to death at his dorm Sher-e-Bangla Hall early Monday (Oct 7).

The body of Fahad was found lying between the first and second floors of Sher Bangla Hall.

Later on that day, police arrested 10 BCL leaders of its Buet unit over the alleged involvement in the killing of fellow student Abrar Fahad. 

On Oct 8, a Dhaka court placed ten leaders of BCL on a five-day remand and fixed November 13 for submission of probe report of the case filed over the murder of Abrar Fahad.
