Moaz-Shamim remanded in Fahad murder case Abrar Fahad

DHAKA:  A Dhaka court placed Moaz Abu Hurairah and Shamim Billah on five-day remand each in BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid gave the five-day remand order as investigation officer and detective branch inspector Md Wahiduzzaman produced both of them before the court and pleaded to place them on 10-day police remand.

A team of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Shamim Billah from Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira on October 11.

Shamim Billah is-- son of Bablu Rahman—a resident of the aforementioned area. He is the number-14 accused of the case.

He is a second year student of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineer Department of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

DMP’s DB police arrested Moaz Abu Hurairah from Uttara area of the capital on October 12.

Moaz Abu Hurairah, 20, is a 17th batch student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department of BUET.

DMP police arrested all the 19 accused in the case.

Abrar Fahad, aged 21, a student of electrical and electronic engineering department at BUET, was tortured to death reportedly by BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university on October 7.

He was found dead on the staircase of the dormitory early Monday.

The deceased’s father filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station.
