3 students drown in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR: Three students drowned following a boat capsize while they were on a school outing to Nawabganj National Park Ashura Bill (marshy ground) in Dinajpur district.

Two other students of the boat were also injured as it capsized around 4 pm on Saturday (September 21).

The five students--deceased and the injured-- were from Dinajpur town, Kaharole upazila and Thakurgaon district.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nawabganj Police Station Subrat Kumar Sarkar and Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex doctor Khairul Alam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

According to OC, 4 students of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University and a female student of Dinajpur Govt. Women's College went to Nawabganj National Park Ashura Bill. They got on a boat, but the boat capsized suddenly in the middle of the bill. All of them onboard drowned, because they didn’t know how to swim. Locals and tourists rescued them and took them to Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex, but doctors declared three of them dead including the female student.
