Schoolgirl dies of dengue at DMCH

DHAKA:  A schoolgirl died of mosquito-borne dengue fever at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday afternoon (September 17).

The deceased was-- identified as Tarin, aged 11, daughter of Nasir Talukdar—a resident of Gosairhat upazila of Shariatpur district.

She was a 5th-grader at East Masuakhali Government Primary School.

According to maternal uncle of the diseased, Tarin had been suffering from the fever for 10/12 days. She was admitted to DMCH on September 12. She had been undergoing treatment at ICU for the last three days.

As many as 46 new dengue patients have been admitted to the hospital over the last 24 hours. 47 have returned home with recovery while 235 patients are still receiving treatment at the hospital, director of DMCH Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin said.
