CHATTOGRAM: Three people, including an employee of Election Commission (EC), were arrested for allegedly helping Rohingyas in making them voters.

They were detained at the District Election Office around 11 pm on Monday (September 16).

One of the detainees is EC Joynal Abedin who works in the Double Mooring election office. The two others were not identified. 

Sources at the district election office said that the employee has been quizzed since Monday morning on suspicion of his involvement. Later that night, he along with two more persons was arrested.

The detainees have been kept under surveillance for the past two days, said Md Munir Hossain Khan, senior district election officer.

He said, “Three persons were arrested. We informed police and the process of filing case against the detainees is underway”.
