RAJBARI: A 38-year old listed criminal was killed in a shootout with policemen in Kalibari area of Rajbari district sadar early Monday (September 16).

Deceased Abdur Rahim was accused in eight cases filed on various charges including murder, robbery and illegal arms, said police.

Around 3am, Abdur Rahim accompanying his aides launched an attack on policemen as the law enforcers tried to nab him in Kalibari area of Chandani union, said Rajbari sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Swapan Kumar Majumder.

Abdur Rahim sustained bullet injuries as police fired in retaliation. He was taken to Rajbari sadar hospital where physicians pronounced him dead.

Two one-shooter guns and ten round of cartridge were recovered from the spot. 

The body was kept at the morgue for an autopsy, added the OC.
