Abducted college teacher rescued in Mirpur, 5 held

DHAKA: The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a raid rescued an associate professor of Govt. Tolaram College in Narayanganj who had been reportedly abducted by miscreants two days back.

They rescued Sarwar Jahan Kiron and arrested five alleged ‘kidnappers’ from South Monipur area in Mirpur 60 feet early on Friday (September 13).

Company commander of RAB-4 Major Kazi Saifuddin Ahmed told Banglanews that the victim was abducted by miscreants after he came out of his Kalyanpur residence in the capital city on Wednesday (September 11) evening.

The ‘kidnappers’ kept Kiron captive and demanded ransom over his cell phone to family members. On Thursday, family members filed a complaint with Rab-4.

“Later, with the help of information technology, we rescued him from a house in South Manipur along a 60-foot road in Mirpur. Five members of the kidnapping gang were arrested from the spot,” the Rab official added.

The process of legal action against the arrestees is going on, he also said.
