DHAKA:  The teenager Maruf Hossen Badhon confessed to bringing his lover Asma to Dhaka from Panchagarh and then killing her after rape in the bathroom of an abandoned train’s compartment at Kamalapur Railway Station.

Badhon was brought to Dhaka after arresting him on Saturday (August 24). He then gave confessional statement, Ali Akbar, sub inspector of Kamalapur Railway Station, told Banglanews.

An autopsy was performed on Asma on Tuesday (August 20).

“We found marks of injury during post-mortem. Asma was strangled to death. She was raped before death, because traces were found,” said Pradeep Biswas, a lecturer at forensic department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Hospital.

“Maruf Hossen Badhon, 19 and Asma, 17, came to Dhaka at dawn on August 19.  They roamed around in Kamalapur, had breakfast in a restaurant in the morning. At one stage, Badhon took Asma to a train’s compartment, raped her, and then murdered her. Further investigation is still left. He will be sent to court today,” investigation officer of the case Akbar Ali, told Banglanews.

On the same day, police recovered Asma’s body from the train.

Later, Raju Miah, uncle of the deceased, filed a case with Railway Police station. Maruf Hossen Badhon was made accused in the case.
