Juba League leader shot dead in Cox’s Bazar Omar Faruk

COX’S BAZAR: A local leader of Juba League, ruling Awami League-backed youth organisation, was shot dead allegedly by Rohingya criminals in Teknaf upazila on Thursday (August 22) night.

The deceased was identified as Omar Faruk, 30, president of Hinla Ward 9 unit of Juba League and son of Md Monaf alias Monaf company of Hinla Jadimura area of the upazila.

Quoting locals, police said Omar Faruk was standing in front of his home around 10:00pm when some armed criminals of Rohingya community forcibly picked up him and took him to hilly area.

Later, the criminals shoot Omar Faruk, leaving him dead on the spot 

On information, family members went there to bring the body but criminals obstructed them.

Being informed from locals, police arrived and sent the body for autopsy.

Superintendent of Cox's Bazar Police (Administration) Md Iqbal Hossain told Banglanews that it cannot be ascertained what behind the killings. However, this may happen due to disputes over establishing supremacy in the area or financial issues.
