5 die of dengue fever in 4 districts

DHAKA: Five people have died of dengue fever in Patuakhali, Mymensingh, Khulna and Faridpur districts on Monday (August 19).

They died while undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

18-year-old girl Sumaiya died at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC).  Sumaiya was from Dumki upazila of Patuakhali.

SBMC director Dr. Bakir Hossen said fever affected Sumaiya’s kidneys and lungs.

In Khulna, a vegetable trader Mizanur Rahman, 40, died at Khulna Medical College Hospital. With his death, the number of death from mosquito-borne disease now stands at 5 in khulna, said Residential Physician of the hospital Dr Soilendranath Biswas on Monday (August 19).

Mizanur Rahman was a resident of Rupsa upazila.

In Mymensingh, two persons-- named as Anwar Hossen, 46, and Selim, 35—breathed their last at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital early Monday. 

Anwar was from Kendua upazila of Netrokona and Selim was from Durgapur upazila of Netrokona.

Delwar Hossain, 40, died at Faridpur Medical College Hospital. This death makes a total of 7 deaths out of dengue fever in the district.  

Assistant director of FMCH Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman Bulu confirmed Delwar’s death to Banglanews.
