Rohingya repatriation begins any day

DHAKA: Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque said the repatriation of Rohingyas might start any day.

Shahidul Haque said: “This is an ongoing process. The work is underway on behalf of the government. It will make progress in the next two weeks.”

Foreign Secretary was chairing a seminar on titled ‘Rohingya Crisis: Way Forward,’ organized by Green and Red Research at Bank for International Settlements (BIS) auditorium in the capital on Sunday (August 18).

“We think Rohingyas will return home with due respect. For this, the talks are going on from the government,” he added.

With regard to a report published in international media about start of Rohingya repatriation on August 22, he said our discussion is going on with international community. Hopefully, this process could start from any day.

The seminar was, led by director Shahidul Islam Chowdhury of Green and Red Research, was attended by various NGOs and representatives of embassies.
