GAIBANDHA: Two people, including driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, were killed and four others injured in a road accident in Sadar upazila on Tuesday (August 13) night.

The deceased were identified as Khurshid Alam, 33, son of Majnu Miah of Kholahati Union Bazar of Sadar upazila and Roman Mia, 22, son of Abul Hossain of Langrar Bazar of Sunderganj upazila.

Quoting locals, police said the accident took place when a microbus, carrying wedding party men, collided head-on with the CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Thakurer Dighi area on Gaibandha-Dariapur raod around 10:00pm, leaving auto-rickshaw driver Khurshid dead on the spot and four of its passengers injured.

Later, the injured were admitted to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries.  

Md Shahriar Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gaibandha Sadar Police Station, told Banglanews that the bodies of the deceased and microbus-auto were brought to the police station. Two of critically injured were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
