 One goes missing as boat capsizes in Padma

MADARIPUR: A eight-year-old boy went missing after a speedboat with 19 passengers on board capsized in the Padma River at Lauhajong turning point on Tuesday (August 13) morning.

Akhter Hossain, traffic inspector of Kathalbari Ghat of BIWTC, said a speed boat with 16 people on board sank in the river due to strong current while crossing the Padma River around 8:00am.

Deen Islam Hossain Rony, 8, went missing while another boat rescused others and took them to safer place.

Following the accident, movement to Launch and speedboat has kept suspended. However, the ferry service is running limited in size.

On information, Fire Service divers rushed in and launched a rescue operation. The person could not be rescued till filing of this report.
