DHAKA: Bangladesh Railway will operate eight pairs of special trains on different routes in a bid to ensure comfortable journey for holidaymakers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

The trains will run four days before (August 8-11) and seven days (August 13-19) after Eid, said Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan at a press briefing held at the Rail Bhaban on Tuesday (July 23).

The trains are- Dewanganj Eid Special (1 pair) on Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka route, Chandpur Eid Special (2 pairs) on Chattogram-Chandpur-Chattogram route, Shantahar Eid Special on Dhaka-Shantahar-Dhaka route, Khulna Eid Special on Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna route, Lalmoni Eid Special on Lalmonirhat-Dhaka-Lalmonirhat route, Sholakia Special-1 Bhairab bazar-Kishireganj-Bhairab bazar and Sholakia Special-2 on Mymensingh-Dhaka-Mymensingh route.

Bangladesh Railway will start selling advance train tickets on July 29 which will continue till August 2 while the sale of return tickets will begin on August 5 and continue till August 9. Half of the tickets will be sold online while the rest will be sold at 5 places in the capital, including Kamalapur railway station, said the minister. 

The number of seats on the 48 trains, including the regular and special, is 26,500. And there are 3,000 seats on 4 special trains. Besides, a total of 1,437 coaches will be included on the occasion of Eid, he added.
