Home minister warns of punishment for lynching Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal speaking at the function

DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said child-lifting is totally a rumor. If anyone participates in a killing incident, we will surely bring them to book.

“He/she is to be punished as per law,” the minister briefed media at the secretariat on Tuesday (July 23).

The press conference was organized in the wake of lynching incidents that killed some people countrywide on suspicion of child abduction.

He said: “If a hundred people stage a murder, then punishment is all the same.”

The minister urged everyone not to take up the laws without inspecting the incident. He said if suspicion arises, hand over the matter to law enforcement agencies, or call at 999 number, or inform local authorities.

He urged people to inform through media so that such incidents do not repeat.

Some people have fallen victim to these incidents. We’re not sitting idle. We’re going to take legal action after verifying all incidents through video footages, he said

So far, 81 persons have been arrested. We’ll arrest more, he also said.
