DHAKA: The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) launched a campaign to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquito responsible for dengue on Sunday (July 21).

"From today, our inspection team from the 57 wards, accompanied by a health department team, will visit different homes,” DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon said this while inaugurating the campaign.

Sayeed Khokon said: “A team will clean 30 homes and commercial buildings each day, in other words, 1710 houses will be cleaned every day.  Thus, a total of 25,000 houses will be cleaned to destroy Aedes mosquito in 15 days.”

The mayor said: “68 mobile medical teams are working on the ground. We’ve so far treated some 21,057 patients. Dengue patients have found in some areas.”

The mayor also urged the neighboring city corporations to work concertedly to eliminate Aedes mosquito.
