LALMONIRHAT: Dhaka-Bogura Rail link has remained suspended from Wednesday (July 17) noon as six kilometers of rail tracks went under flood water triggered by heavy rains and onrush of water from upstream.
For this, Lalmonirhat-Dhaka route inter city train is going to its destination via Parbatipur.
Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman, Railways’ Divisional Manager in Lalmonirhat, told Banglanews that flood water is flowing 1 feet above of Lalmonirhat-Dhaka railway track in about six kilometers area stretching from Badiakhali to Trimohini of Gaibandha.
The intercity train ‘Lalmoni Express’, which left from Dhaka, has reached Lalmonirhat late. Then, the same train left for Dhaka again got stuck at the Kaunia station in Rangpur.
Later, as per decision of railway west zone, changing the route, the Lalmoni Express train restarted its journey from Kaunia of Rangpur via Parbatipur for Dhaka.
But, the passengers of Bamondanga-Bagura route could not go to the destination. For this reason, almost five trains of Lalmonirhat Railway Division were trapped at Gaibandha, Badiakhali and Bonarpara stations, he added.
Train movement on the Lalmonirhat-Gaibandha-Bagura route would remain suspended until the flood water went down from rail track, Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman said.
