BARGUNA: Police arrested an accused in a case filed over hacking a man to death in front of his wife, in front of Barguna Government College in broad daylight.

The arrestee is identified as Chandan.

Barguna Superintendent of Police (SP) Maruf Hossain confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The arrest was made Thursday (June 27) morning, a day after the brutal incident of which a shocking video went viral on social media and sparked huge outrage.

Twelve persons were accused in the murder case.

22-year-old Rifat Sharif from Barguna sadar upazila was allegedly hacked to death by his wife Ayesha Siddiqa Minni's alleged former husband and aides Wednesday (June 26).

Police, through scrutinizing a CCTV footage of the incident, on Wednesday said the attackers were identified as Noyon Bond and his friends Nishan Farazi and Rabby Akon.

Noyon Bond's mother Shaheda Begum said Noyon married Minni seven months ago. Later, they involved in a conjugal feud over Minni's affair with Rifat which later resulted in separation.

"Minni confirmed Noyon the divorce around two months ago and married Rifat afterwards," she added.

Confirming the marriage of Rifat and Minni, slain Rifat's father Dulal Sharif said Noyon started to stalk Minni and posted offensive photos on Facebook claiming Minni as his wife. A rivalry ensued between Rifat and Noyon over it.
