NARAYANGANJ: A suspected robber was killed in a reported shootout with the members of Detective Branch (DB) police in Fatullah of Narayanganj early Thursday (June 20).

The deceased was identified as Lipu, 30.

He was accused in 15 cases filed over drug dealing and robbery.

DB Inspector Enamul Huq confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

A DB team took Lipu with them in a drive carried out in Dapa area of Fatullah, to recover arms and drugs, at the night.

Lipu's aides opened fire at the law enforcers, enforcing them to retaliate. 

As the shootout ended, Lipu was found bullet-hit. He was pronounced dead by the physician after being taken to Narayanganj General Hospital.

A one-shooter gun and one round of bullet were recovered from the spot, said the DB inspector.

The body was kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.
