Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF along Shibganj border

CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi national along Shingagar border in Shibganj upazila on Thursday (June 20).

The deceased was identified as, Manarul Islam, 25, son of Nuh Monna of Tarapur village under shibganj upazila in the district.

The patrolling BSF members of Sabhapur camp opened fire on a group of people including Manrul, while they were intruding into Bangladesh territory around 5am, Samir Uddin, member of ward 8 Monkosa UP told Banglanews.

Manarul died on the spot in mango orchard of one Indian national Harun near main pillar no 16, the UP member said adding that others in the group managed to flee.

Despite several attempts, BGB-53 battalion commanding officer Lt Colonel Sazzad Sarwar could not be reached for comment.
