Youth killed in Mohammadpur 'shootout'

DHAKA: A young man was killed in a reported shootout with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Mohammadpur of the capital city early Thursday (June 20). 

The shootout took place on the bank of a river near Bosila City around 3:45am.

In a text message sent to media, RAB identified the deceased as Tanvir Ahmmed Anik, 36.

He was the chief of a local terror group 'Seven Star'. Two RAB members were also injured in the shootout, added the message. 

Mohammadpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahidul Islam said the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue.

Two pistols, knife and machete were recovered from the spot, he added.
