DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has included information of 62, 34,547 citizens living in Dhaka in ‘Citizen Information Management System (CIMS)’ database after it began collection.

Of them, 2, 41,507 are house owners, 18, 20,094 tenants, 31, 66,821 family members, 8, 83984 drivers and house maids, and 1, 21,040 mess members. 

DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia disclosed the number at DMP Media Centre on Saturday (June 15).

Asaduzzaman Mia said: “DMP first started collecting information of citizens in the style of developed world. Now, data collection has started in other places too. The job is done in strict confidentiality and security. No leak of any citizen's information was reported over the last three years.”

A function was arranged on the occasion of ‘Citizen Information Collection Week.’

The week will continue until June 21 as a part of preventive measure against crimes. 

Police will collect information of citizens after dividing 50 police stations of Dhaka into 302 bits.

Krishnapad Roy, additional commissioner (crime and operation) of the DMP Headquarters, gave a power point presentation on the CIMS database system.
