MADHUPUR (TANGAIL): Police conducted a drive and detained a 14-year-old boy Wednesday (May 22) night on charge of raping an elderly woman in Madhupur upazila of Tangail.

Local sources said Sohel, the detainee, raped the octogenarian woman after covering her face, in Chandpur village located in the upazila forestland on Monday (May 20) noon.

Madhupur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariq Kamal visited the spot Wednesday and confirmed the incident.

The victim is even unable to move properly due to old age complications.

Hatred poured in as posts over the incident were taking rounds on social media Tuesday (May 21).

A case was filed. Legal step will be taken over the incident, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Fakhrul Islam.
