Passenger's arms seized at Shah Makhdum Shah Makhdum Airport, Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Authorities of Rajshahi's Shah Makhdum Airport seized legal arms of a Dhaka-bound Novoair Airlines passenger after detecting them at the scanning point.

The arms kept in a bag include a pistol, two magazines and 27 rounds of bullet.

65-year-old passenger SM Hasan, a resident of Rajshahi city uposhohor, claimed that he informed the airport security officials about the arms.

But the airport officials rejected the claim and said he was entering the airport not informing about the arms.

SM Hasan was detained at the checking point after the arms were detected in the scanner.

He came to the airport at 9:54am to catch his Dhaka-bound flight scheduled to take off at 11am.

Afterwards, Airport Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nure Alam Siddiqui came to the scene and talked to Hasan.

We didn't think he possessed the arms with any illegal intention, said Shah Makhdum Airport Manager Setafur Rahman.

Hasan was allowed to leave the airport. The arms were handed over to the police station from where the owner has to collect those, as said by the manager.

We will investigate whether the passenger inform the security officials about his arms. It will be decided afterwards whether he will be given back the arms, said OC Nure Alam Siddiqui.
